POST-9/11 GI BILL

USE YOUR BENEFITS TO EARN YOUR WINGS

The Chapter 33 / Post-9/11 GI Bill offers a new avenue of available funding for veterans seeking to begin or continue their helicopter flight training. Under this bill, eligible veterans can be reimbursed for 60% to 100% of flight training expenses.

You must have a private pilots license and valid medical certification before you can begin commercial helicopter training. The private pilot license is usually self-funded with the exception of an in-house college “program” such as Southwestern Illinios College. Funds may also come from Pell Grants, the ASFA and various scholarships.

When a flight training program is paired with a university or college degree program, a student’s training is typically 100% paid for after the private pilot certificate. Without a university or college degree, VA will reimburse up to 60% dependent upon the student’s funding.
